BI Data Analyst

Summary

The BI Data Analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions. Crafting and executing queries upon request for data, presenting information through reports and visualization. Your BI Data Analyst capability will focus on converting business and client reporting requirements to meet the overall needs of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, publish and maintain Power BI data models with over 45 interrelated tables connected
  • Implementing a data model that works seamlessly in Direct Query or Import mode
  • Merging/Joining Queries (M Language) in order to filter useful data to make visuals on a high granular level
  • Establishing dynamic table relations with desired Cross filtering directions.
  • Implementing measures in DAX that filter out values from different tables to display calculations
  • Visuals with Level Filters that maintain data consistency across interactive/dynamic pages
  • Setup automated data refresh of dashboards to show the updated values from source data
  • Slicer Selections and Syncing across report pages
  • Translate business needs to technical specifications
  • Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
  • Develop and update technical documentation
  • Performs other duties as required

Technical Skills:

  • Power BI
    • Power Query concepts (query steps and M syntax, transforming data including pivoting, aggregating, and joins)
    • DAX (knows basic functions offhand, understands concept of measures and behavior of aggregate calculations in context)
    • Data model relationships including implications on visual filtering behavior and RLS
    • Nice to have: MS Fabric features (e.g., Data warehouses, lake houses, data pipelines)
  • Power Automate & Power Apps
    • Can build moderately complex cloud flows (such as 2-step approvals, etc.)
    • Some experience building basic-to-moderately complex Power Apps “canvas” apps and/or “model-driven” apps
    • Nice to have: Experience with Dataverse & Power Platform “Managed Solutions”
    • Nice to have: AI builder experience
    • Nice to have: RPA and/or software testing automation experience
  • SQL 
    • Knowledge of basic SQL language and concepts including: SELECTs, JOINs, GROUP BYs, Views
    • Nice to have:  Stored procedures, basic database management
